A Note to BCSR Families about Juneteenth Day

Jun 19, 2020

Today, June 19 marks an important day in the history of America. Today we celebrate Juneteenth Day. A day on which the last slaves in America were told they were free 2 1/2 years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed.

While we celebrate this day in our country’s history, let us also remember those that have sacrificed for the struggle of human rights in America. Our country has come a long way but we have a long road ahead. Only through unity, understanding and empathy can we continue to act with impact for the purpose of social justice, human rights and true equality for all.
