Post-COVID 19 Policies and Protocols

PHASE 1
- GUIDELINES FOR PARENTS/LEGAL GUARDIANS
- Do not attend lesson/practice if you or a member of your household does not feel well.
- Parents must drop off/pick up children on time
- Parents must use established traffic patterns
- Parents will not be allowed on pool deck
- Siblings should note that as soon as they get out of the car, they will not be considered related and should practice social distancing
- Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue or your elbow
- Each participant and their parent or legal guardian will sign the Waiver and Compliance Agreement that will require them to stay home if they or any member of the their family are feeling ill in any way or have a temperature in excess of 100.4. The agreement also means families will obey all guidelines from Buffalo City Swim Racers or be temporarily suspended from participating in lessons/practices
- Parents must wear a face mask at all times inside the building
- GUIDELINES FOR SWIMMERS
- Do not attend lesson/practice if you or a member of your household does not feel well.
- Children should shower at home prior to leaving for the pool
- Child arrives in gear ready for lesson/practice
- Swimmers can only bring in limited belongings- towel, bag, water bottle, clothes, cap and goggles (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED)
- Do not make physical contact with others, such as shaking hands or giving a high five

- GUIDELINES FOR INSTRUCTORS ARRIVING TO WORK AND WHILE WORKING
- Instructors will have their temperature taken. Must be below 100.4 degrees.
- Instructors will pass the CDC COVID 19 Symptom APP
- Instructors will have their mask on provided by BCSR
- Locker room use will not be permitted for instructors
- Bathroom use by instructors will be for emergency only
- In between lessons, all swimming aids will be cleaned
- Instructors will maintain a daily log of swimmers:
- Arriving time to swim
- Approved to enter the building and swim
- Sent home for presenting a fever or symptoms
- Working with each instructor
- Departure time from building with parent
- PROTOCOLS PRIOR TO ENTERING BUILDING FOR LESSONS/PRACTICES
- Temperature will be taken by a masked and gloved instructor with an infrared thermometer. Temperature must be 100.4 degrees or lower.
- CDC Symptom App will be conducted on phone

- If App approves a participant is symptom free and temperature is normal, child can enter the building
- Instructor will open the door to allow swimmer into the building
- If child fails temperature (100.4 degrees or higher) or symptom check, they will be sent home prior to entering the building
- PROTOCOLS INSIDE BUILDING FOR LESSONS/PRACTICES
- Locker rooms will be closed and locked
- Instructors will be masked
- Changing before and after lesson/practice will not be permitted in the building
- Bathroom use is from emergency only
- Vending machine use is not allowed
- Upon entering the building, swimmers will use the most direct path from the entrance to the pool and use the same path when leaving.
- LEARN-TO-SWIM LESSON FORMAT
- Swimming aids will be purchased that allow for additional social distancing within the lesson format (ie. Rock-it Boats, Paddlers, etc)
- Lessons/practices will only be available for older children (11 years and older)
- Social distancing will be practiced during lessons with use of cones
- Red Group- 2 swimmers per instructor seated 6 feet apart
- Yellow Group- 4 swimmers per instructor spaced 6 feet apart in water
- 1 swimmer per cone
- Swimmer gear must be placed 6 feet apart from others as designated by cones
- Learn to swim classes will be reduced from 45 to 30 minutes
- Swimming aids can be used on a limited basis but not shared
- GOGGLES ARE HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
- Instructors will be assigned to the same level every day and must wear face shields in the water
- Swimmers are allowed to attend one lesson per week
- One additional instructor on deck will be responsible for social distancing supervision exclusively
- COMPETITIVE PRACTICE FORMAT
- Bring a full water bottle to avoid touching a tap or water fountain handle
- (2) swimmers per lane with lane assignments
- Swimmers start at opposite end of the pool
- Coaches will be responsible for same level each day
- Practices will be reduced to 45 minutes from 75 minutes
- Swimming aids can be used on a limited basis but not shared
- GOGGLES ARE HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
- Parents can observe from upper level
- One instructor will be responsible for social distancing supervision exclusively
- Additional pace clock needed for opposite end of pool
- PROTOCOLS FOR IF A SWIMMER OR INSTRUCTOR BECOMES ILL DURING LESSON/PRACTICE
- Individual will be immediately provided a facemask and moved to an isolated area
- If the case of a child becoming ill, a parent will be contacted for pick-up of the child
- All staff and participants will be notified
- Participant will not be allowed to return until cleared in writing by a physician with a negative test

- 2 swimmers per lane with lane assignments
- Swimmers start at opposite end of the pool
- Coaches will be responsible for same level each day
- Practices will be increased from 45 minutes to 60 minutes
- Swimming aids can be used
- GOGGLES ARE HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
- Parents can observe from upper level

- Instructors will be assigned to levels as necessary
- Swimmers are allowed to attend unlimited lessons each week
- COMPETITIVE PRACTICE FORMAT
- Bring a full water bottle to avoid touching a tap or water fountain handle
- Unlimited swimmers per lane
- Swimmers start at starting block end of the pool
- Practices will be increased from 60 minutes to 75 minutes
- Swimming aids can be used
- Parents can observe from upper level
- PROTOCOLS FOR IF A SWIMMER OR INSTRUCTOR BECOMES ILL DURING LESSON/PRACTICE
- Individual will be immediately provided a facemask and moved to an isolated area
- If the case of a child becoming ill, a parent will be contacted for pick-up of the child
